Beads at Work - Inspiration for You

blueset.jpg.jpg
A customer asked me to string a flower set and make earrings for her.  She chose light jade beads and glass pearls to go with her blue flowers.  I used pale blue seed beads just to give a little separation between the beads.  It turned out even better than I hoped; I love the stamens that I was able to work into the blossoms.
I used Softflex 49 strand steel for stringing; it's the best for lampwork beads.  My handmade clasp and an extender chain finish the price

My seed bead necklaces are all made from a spiral stitch that is the only pattern that I know.  It's super easy--it had to be because I have a terrible time with directions.

Here's the link to Ruby's Bead Work, with instructions on how to make a spiral rope:  Spiral Rope Link

For my rope, I used 8.0 seed beads and drops.  My core beads are 8.0 pearl colored seeds and for the outside beads, pick up one 8.0 matte ivory bead, a matte ivory drop, and another 8.0 matte ivory seed bead.

The beauty of the spiral is that using a different combination of outside beads really changes the rope ... I've used triangles, matagamas, pearls, cubes, and Swarovski crystals in combination with my 8.0 seed beads to make spirals that are really attractive.

Finishing this necklace requires 4 cones (one for each end of the two ropes), a clasp, two round beads, a bail, and some wire.  I left long ends of thread on each end of my ropes to sew the cones and beads together.  There is no special way to do this, just make sure it's tight & strong.  If you have any questions, send me a note through the guestbook link.
